Sit A Spell

Okay so today was my visit with my Oncologist Dr. Janice Lu.  To put it as briefly as possible, they are still awaiting the results of my HeR testing on my tumor as that will really determine if I need chemo or not.  So the waiting game begins again and I will not know for at least another 10 days.  This is just great as I really need more anxiety in my life. I am sure that treatments for all types of cancer have far surpassed any treatments given years ago- but it still is amazing to me that a Doctor CAN NOT say: “I don’t know” to a patient.  I am being a little firm here simply because I don’t like being a statistic nor to be treated as one.  When speaking with the doctor today, I straight out asked her if my recurrance rate for cancer to come back would remain the same with or without therapy of any kind her answer was to go online to an adjuvant therapy site.  She put in information about my cancer and showed me the results.  WHICH by the way I already knew because I was on the same site with the same generator a week ago.  JESUS I should charge myself 250.00! Still mind you that the results are only estimated at this point ASSUMING my results for the final test do come back negative- if it doesnt than thats another BLOG.  If I do NOTHING-no hormone therapy no chemo my chances for cancer to come back in 10 years is 20%- If I do just Hormone therapy to inhibit my hormone levels my chances for recurrance is 6.7%-Same results if I do JUST chemo. If I do both chemo and hormonal inhibitors my chances for recurrance are 4.6%. Now remember this is ALL based on Statistics of documented cases that they are currently studing and have valid records of.  The doctor suggested that I take part in a clinical study they are doing called an “OncotypeDX” recurrance test.  This is much more accurate in determining my chances for recurrance based on combining 21 different tests to a sample of my tumor-running some mathematical equations and POOF I get a number that will determine my actual recurrance of cancer. the lower the number (1-100) the better chances I have of it NOT coming back.  Here is an actual result based on my projected score.:

So logically if I have the same results with hormonal therapy/as with hormonal and Chemo-than I will JUST do Hormonal therapy.  When you change the GH number (oncotypeDx score) the results are the same except the higher the GH score green box gets smaller.  So even with all the latest technology and testing- MY particular cancers recurrance rate remains the same no matter what therapy program I choose.  Of course if I choose nothing than it INCREASES.  Well I will choose hormonal therapy and live with the statistics that I AM CANCER FREE AND WILL REMAIN CANCER FREE for at least 10 years.  Now does anyone want to enter MY CANCER POOL- Cause I get to KEEP ALL THE MONEY AFTER 10 Years!!!
