Queens Ryche Part 2

You know we didn’t actually stand at the end of the ticket holders line, we planned the “where the fuck is the line?” look and waited until security gave the OK and we skated right in….Sorry people who were waiting, but we were right there. Anyway it really didnt matter the place was well organized, maybe a little too stict, but the staff were great at the Nokia- First place we hit when we get in is the BATHROOMS! Holy crap in a handbag, was the ladies room to die for or what?! I notice things, what can I say…Changing the subject a bit, just because I can as I am THE writer of this story, I would like to say that a certain person was in attendance, and we all managed to make sure that this person managed to feel as FUCKING UNCOMFORATABLE as possible, while still behaving like adults and not causing a scene, which was totally satisfing to all of us! Props to US! and disses and hisses to that person!
The shows about to begin and Eddie Trunk comes out as the offical announcer, plugs his show. And we are ready to ROCK!
Cue the sound, cue the lights, out comes Queens Ryche and HORNS ARE HIGH! I am looking out at a sea of middle aged fans who in what looks like is a planned synchronized show of waving rock horns, flay and groove to the beats seamlessly. I watch intently as song after song everyone is singing word for word, with Tate in his God like manner is cueing the crowd to respond, and they do! We’re all in our own little QR world this night, Nina’s out in the middle of it all taking it all in, JWC is back and forth from middle of the floor to the side with his “I AM SO GLAD I’M HERE” smile on his face, and Denise is just plain happy as a pig in shit cause the reason why SHE is singing is because of Geoff-her mentor. We all had our reasons for going, and we all have our reasons for seeing the same band, but when your in a room and watching people you don’t even know ALL enjoying these musicians, and ALL reacting anyway they feel fit, it totally is an enlightening experience to be there and feel all this great energy under one roof! There’s always that totally dicky asshole who has to act like a bafoon, who threw their drink on stage, but Eddie eloquently kept on playing his bass and flipped the dirty bird to that jerk.
We go up for a cigarette break, and who do I see up there, but Hippi Chick herself, and BAM! ANOTHER “WHAT THE F ARE YOU DOING HERE MOMENT” #2 happens. She is so adorable with her enthusiasm, she made me feel like I was the Rock Star of the night. I love that girl, she is down to earth and totally rockin’!
Enough of that excitement and we’re all back down to the show. I am standing next to a few people who are in your usual preppy, non rock concert outfits, and we’re all chatty about me taking pictures, and this guy named Patrick proceeds to tell me that his wife works for QR’s record company and would I mind if I could email them the shots I took, and then he flashes his backstage pass and says if I want to go back after the show he could get me in! OKAY HOLY FALL INTO SHIT MOMENT of the night! I thanked him, but declined as silly as it sounds, because I really didn’t feel I was as big of a Fan of Queens Ryche and deserving of such an offer as all of you are, and plus if I couldn’t get you all in too would that be right? I didnt’ think so. We traded business cards so I could send him the picks later. Speaking of photo’s, I noticed while I was uploading them, that Geoff’s new hairstyle which I totally LOVE, makes him look like Guy LaFontaine? Anyone else see the resemblance? Back to the concert. I really like the idea of a no opening act show, and they played straight for over two hours. I also thought for a fleeting moment that it might be a little inappropriate to be visually and vocally anti-war at a concert, but that passed quickly as I was really moved by the way Queens Ryche actually portrayed their feelings about the soldiers needing more support for what they are doing and at the same time being against war of anykind, which I think is how we all feel. I did notice a few times on stage that Geoff wanted to “shake his booty” a little more than he thought he should, but he has an image I guess so he held back the urge, but I would have loved to see him bopping around on the stage like we all were doing on the floor! The show ended and I am sure I am leaving out other things, but I want to say that the whole evening was really just an emotionally loving night for me, and even though I seemed to “not be” my usually self, I was really just in a mood of total absorbtion of love from my friends, who I am grateful to have in my life. HORNS HIGH TO YOU ALL!!!!
